Question:
My husband, brother-in-law, and I are flying to Arizona in about a month...I've only flown like 2x before and I was about 14. I'm 23 now and still terrified of flying. I'm afraid something awful will happen. Like the plan will crash, blow up, etc. And it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about getting on a plane. What can I do to overcome this?

how many students per teacher is there usually in a privite aircraft school?
I would not think of it as an airplane flight.. think of it as getting on a train which as we know can't leave the ground.. Sit on an aisle seat and don't look out the window. I did this when I started flying and was scared to death of heights. First flight about made me pass out....lol... listen to music and relax while on takeoff. If you are going on a long flight you might consider going to sleep when you get on the plane and sleeping the whole flight. Flying on a plane has the same hazards of going to the store in a car. You can crash your car, get carjacked, or get a gas leak and it can blow up.. All these could harm you just as fast if not faster than a plane crash and happen way more often than problems on a plane....... sit back and enjoy the flight......Fly in a flight simulator. You will realize the fun of flying and you'll know all about crashing, blowing up, and your stomach with a butterfly in it.

At what height from Earth do Aeroplanes generally fly?
I USED TO BE AFRAID TO FLY. I JUST GOT ON THE PLANE AND TOOK IT. IT IS NEVER AS BAD AS YOUR IMAGINATION MAKES IT. REMEMBER FROM YOUR PREVIOUS FLIGHTS THAT ITS SMOOTHER AND MORE COMFORTABLE THAN GOING ON THE ROAD AND THE PEOBLE ARE LESS WIERD THAN ON A TRAIN. CARS TURN, STOP AND GO AND HIT BUMPS AND TRAFFIC AND THE DRIVERS ARE ALL CRAZY. FOR SANITY'S SAKE, JUST FLY. YOU'LL BE FINE.do you need a seperate license to fly a helicopter or plane?
Fear of flying(aviophobia) is complex. Much has to do with the fact that you are not in direct control of the aircraft, heights, claustrophobia, etc can cause it. Other fears are instilled upon us by family, society, media or simply by previous traumatizing experiences we might have suffered.arew there any Angels on line?
I am a firm believer however, that root of the problem comes from a lack of knowledge. A basic understanding of flying, airline operations, human factors, regulations, physics, etc can ease the anxiety that flying might cause in some people. Statistically, you're more likely to win the lottery before you die in an airliner.
firefox (mig-31) is really or just a model for a film?
There is hope however. Some airline pilots and companies run seminars where you can interact with simulators and learn about what really goes on behind the scenes. The nice thing is that you get to spend time with people that have the same phobia, so its like "group therapy"
There are many books out there that you can read to help you get through it.
Good luck and don't stress over it!

the best thing to do is not listen to these guys and go to the local ariport. the small one not the international hub downtown and find the flight school. buy yourself an introductory flight lesson. if you go to a cessna approved school which most are. it will cost you 124.99, nothing helps with flying if you are the one doing it. it is fun and informative and you get to overcome your fears yourself not just burry the and get on the freakin plane. Is true they are building a new version of the Boeing 747 Jet?

Fear of flying may also be treated by the use of psychoactive medications. For individuals experiencing anxiety due to a phobia, the standard psychiatric prescription might be any of a number of different psychoactive medications such as benzodiazepines or other relaxant/depressant drugs. Psychiatrists are sometimes reluctant to prescribe any medication for the treatment of fear of flying due to the need for patients to medicate irregularly.
Aircraft Separation. Is this a safety breach?
Some individuals with fear of flying may self-medicate with other psychoactive substances—particularly alcohol, which is served in many commercial airline cabins—in order to deal with their anxiety. Most mental health professionals would advise against consuming alcohol as a medication both due to the strong risk of dependency (alcoholism) and due to the particular physiological effects on the body of air travel. In a pressurized cabin, the lower-than-normal oxygen content of the air will cause an alcoholic beverage to have a significantly enhanced effect on the body--resulting in a perhaps surprising level and rapidity of intoxication from only one or two drinks.

On the other hand, some professionals believe that if an individual is capable of controlling his or her drinking—i.e. is not an alcoholic—and consumes only a small amount at a time, that an alcoholic beverage before or during a flight may be beneficial as a short-term treatment of the fear of flying. Most would still advise a more long-term strategy of systematic desensitization therapy.
