The cheaper way to do this is to charter it out (sort of like leasing a jet) where you only pay for the hours you fly. This would cost you about $3100/hour approximately (plus fuel and tax) at the company I work for. Why would you want to buy a jet that would immediately depreciate in value? Last time I was at Cessna (November) the Sovereign waiting list was long.
If you signed up for one at that time, you wouldn't get delivery until early 2009. (Plus you would have to pay for it all before you even took delivery!)
I have heard that people do sell their delivery slots if you want to move up on the list. I heard that people even trade their delivery slots on eBay!
