The newer Next Generation 737 produced by Boeing since January 26, 2005 doesn't have the eyebrow windows anymore. The reason was to save weight (around 20 pounds) and it eliminates the periodic maintenance check. This means that the airplane spend less time in the maintenance and reduces maintenance cost and part inventory. As the news from the Boeing website reports that the new advance navigation system eliminated the need for these windows which provided better visibility for the crew in the past.
