there has not been a major airport built in 50 years except Denver do you know what your talking aboutaircraft fuel left in tanks after a long flight.?
Mainly because that's all they have, so they find the safest spot and put the runway down. Innsbruck, for example, is just surrounded by mountains. Kai Tak was made for little props during WWII, but was feasible for the Jumbos in the later years.how do i read an instrument approach plate?
Welcome back, psvision. its all about the bucksHow loud would a sonic boom be if there were no engine noise?
Are you referring to any airport in pqarticular ? I think the unobvious choice of terrain depends upon circumstances. Mainly if old airports, having the time to refurb/redevelop come around, some are being pushed away from convenient relatively urban areas, up into the mountains or out to sea. I'm sure there are both legal and financial implications involved. Unfortunately, money makes the world go round, and wildlife don't have a voice to put up a fight. How do Pilots and tower communicate?
Cherokeeflyer isn't being a smart ***, its true. When you propose a project (airport) that could make you (government/ community) money, someone finds a way to put it up regardless of obstacles, just to try and make some extra money. I work at a regional airport, and they just lengthend rwy 18/36 by about 1500 ft to accomodate commercial traffic. 9R/27L is the one they use now, but a second is justified by possibly more flights meaning more money. They had to redo roads, move people, all sorts of crap. And the planning of this has been in the works for years and work just started in the fall.More Questions & Answers ...
