What is the difference between a recreational pilot and a private pilot?

Question:

Answers:

For all of you pilots, pilots-in-training(PIT's as I like to call them) is it bad to solo after x months?

A recreational pilot can only fly one passenger, within a certain distance from the airport, within certain airspace and times. They are also limited upon the size of aircraft which they can fly. A recreational pilot is one, who although may love flying, want to fly for the experience and joy of flight, and not as a career, but as a hobby. A private pilot, although they may enjoy flying and as a hobby and for its enjoyment, also utilize the aircraft as a tool, to get them or others from place to place. If you want to consider a career as a pilot, I suggest getting the private. If you want to consider it as an accomplishment and a hobby, get your recreational. The guidelines for the limitations on both are listed on FAA.gov, the bible for all aviation activities in the U.S.

who offers Anti Ice Protection for business aircraft?

Carlos gave a good answer, but I would recommend getting a private pilots license, even if you only plan on flying as a hobby. There are very few restrictions on the private pilot license (the only real restriction is you cannot fly for hire or make money off of flying). It will cost more for private pilot, but you'll be better trained and better able to make use of your flying skills. Plus, if you find you really enjoy flying , having the private already will make it easier to upgrade to an instrument rating or commercial rating.

Can anyone tell me if the Beaver seaplane has permanent pontoons?

As an air traffic controller I also agree that if you are considering flying you should get your private license. You will be better prepared for unusual situations and less likely to have any incidents.
Good Luck :)
