What do you guys think about the VLJ's?

Question:
Which one is the best? Cessna Mustang is pretty expensive. The Embraer looks good to me. It is the cheapest right? The Adam one is very ugly. Your thoughts on this new airplane revolution. One Pilot no Co-Pilot. Sounds good. One more question. If you have an instrument rating can you fly a turboprop solo?

Answers:

I will be most grateful if someone can describe the difference between the following..?

These are very complicated questions. To start, here is an article we wrote on the Eclipse Jet: http://www.jets.com/jets_pressarticle.as... and there is a lot of hype about the introduction of these jets. To get beyond the hype, I would expect these jets to charter out, with two pilots, somewhere in the $1,500 to $1,800 per flight hour which is more expensive than much of the data floating around in the press (the rate will drop as the used market for these jets picks up.) All of the jets you mention above are of high quality, but if I were to purchase one I would probably select the Embraer which is not due for certification until 2008. The cabin size, performance, reliability and stability of the company are influencing my decision.

Fuel Dumps bad for the Enviroment??

As for the Turboprop question, insurance is typically the hold back on a single pilot operation. There are turboprops that you can fly solo, but your insurance company will probably require a high number of turbine experience and simulator training.

does the moller m400 skycar actually work?

Good luck with the flying!

Getting the skysaver rate on Delta Skymiles?

I'm not particularly fond of them. Much prefer a used twin turboprop, or TBM850 over these. If I want jet performance, I'm defenitly thinking about aircraft that have the advantage of speed, though most assuredly used. You can fly the turbo single pilot, if the aircraft is certified that way, as long as it fits within the weght restriction. You do need high performance sign off and be properly signed off to fly the type, and have enough time built so the insurance will allow it.

Why do planes fly at such high altitude?

I'd much rather fly a TBM 700 or 850.

Can a Canadian own a aircraft with American registration in Canada?

TBM's are the biggest waste of money next to an Eclipse. Take your $2.3M and buy a REAL airplane that can actually do something useful.
