On aircraft, what do the audio signals to cabin crew mean?

Question:
When you're in an aeroplane, there are "bing"s, "bong"s, and "bing-bong"s for the benefit of the cabin crew. What do they mean? Are there any other signals used for the cabin crew?

Who believes that concorde should be brought back?

Can anyone help me with this question I had on a JAR engineering test?

the lone bing
one of those little buggers in the cabin wanting a drink, towel, food, or whatever. (I once got asked if a lady could open the window for some fresh air......yeah sure go ahead at 37,000 feet and a ground speed of about 530 MPH).

why are national flags on airline jet painted reverse?

If there is a problem in the cockpit you will hear the capotain or F/O saying "Purser to flight deck" or some variation on this theme. If you hear bing bong three times . Or if you hear what sounds like a car alarm coming from the front or a whoop whoop noise, or a very calm ladies voice saying things like "windshear", "pull up", "terrain","minimum". then its time to put down the Gin and Tonic and start thinking what sort of sauce you are going to have with the fat lady sitting next to you. Tastes like chicken allegedly.

Is it true that English Electric P1 supersonic fighter could increase its speed in a vertical climb?

They have all type of warning sings (audibles) that are recorded in the CVR, when a plane crashes, besides the conversation between Pilots and Control Tower, those alarms are heard.
By the way, I have never heard any bings or bongs, while flying, usually we hear pleasant sounds to buckle up, or unbuckle, plus what they pilot lets know the paxes.
Hope this helps.

airplane fuel question?

If it goes bing bong to many times you'r in trouble.BING BONG.

looking for Wed, 13th video about the pilot FFDO training program. Was shown on one of the morning shows?

Not sure - but i know it annoys me when its going off all the time and everyone looks up to see if its to put ur seatbelt on or not! i swear they do it on purpose to try and freak ppl out!

How much does this cost?

i dont think the cabin crew should be allowed bongs they are putting everyones lives at risk, i would report the airline to the police. drinking and driving is one thing but pilots with bongs is unimaginable. whatever next!

How far in advance do you have to buy airline tickets?

I'm actually cabin crew so know exaxtly what you mean about all the 'dings' and 'bing bongs' you hear on a flight!
All airlines differ with regards to what the sounds mean but i'll give you some of the sounds that we have on our aircraft... I can't give too much away for security reaons as i'm sure you'll understand.
Most of the sounds are just a way of communicating between the cabin crew and the flight crew, almost like a telephone call. A 'bing bong' is usually a call from one cabin crew member to another, a 'bing' is a passenger call from a seat or a toilet.
We have other calls for different situatuons and also a light panel which gives a different colour light depending on what situatuion is occuring sometimes these lights will flash or stay steady again depending on the situation.
We have signals for fires, turbulance, emergency situations and non emergency situations.
It's all very advanced and when you train to be cabin crew you have to know every one like the back of your hand!
Hope this helps.

please helpme!.does anyone which country first used fighter planes?

depending on the airline, they are there to announce a call from a handset from the cockpit or other crew member, a call from a passenger, or when a passenger needs help in a toilet.
