What is your idea about pilots & their prestije?

What is the guy called with the two light sticks that directs airplanes?

Overrated by many. You earn your wings and work hard to get into that left seat with the extra stripes on your uniform. Most commercial pilots started out making very little money doing flight instruction while going to college, then, if they're fortunate, get a job flying ATR's or J42's for some commuter making less than a lot of the passengers for a few years. THEN, after a lot of flight hours and more hard work they might land a right seat gig in a heavy jet and start making a decent living.

Where can i get some ultralight plans similar to the hummel for a decent price and good quality?

When you step on an aircraft and see the men and women in the cockpit, remember that nobody just handed them that job. They got there by working hard, doing well in college and living on a lot of ramen noodles on the way. They deserve your respect, but probably not idolization.

what is the purpose of those planes that fly around making clouds?

I mostly agree with 13th Floor, Just about any reasonably healthy person with good eyesight and at least average intelligence can get there with perseverance, hard work, time, money and a little luck.

What license do you need to fly a STOL CH 801?

Be nice to your flight attendants, too. I don't think it's as easy as it looks.

Is the Little Rock Regional Airport and the Little Rock National Airport the same?

Many women love guys in uniform. Usually pilots of major airlines are educated & they probably earn more than enough money to give someone a comfortable life-style. Plus relatives can fly free. I once dated a guy who could fly when I lived in DC & we flew to NY for dinner. It was too cool for words. The only drawback would be that he would be gone a lot depending on his route.

Is there a quick way to do reciprocals on the E6B?

Rank hath privileges brown bar.

what do i need to become a commercial pilot????

Assuming you mean prestige. Pilots are few in number, have a great deal of knowledge (not just flying), therefore are somewhat unique. Most people wish they could fly, but are not willing to put in the effort. So, yes, we are very proud of our accomplishment.

How much do the big airlines pay for their aircraft?

It's probably a good thing for us that most people don't know how easy it is to get a pilot's certificate (it's not a license). All you need to learn is aerodynamics and theory, weather observation and theory, internal combustion engines and theory, aviation law and rules, radio communications and theory, map reading, and a few other things.

Is it worth following a degree in?

My own opinion is that pilots are no more 'prestigious' than the next person. I applaud anyone who has a well-honed skill, but the fact of the matter is that it mainly takes more money than most are willing to spend to learn to fly. I am sure that I could learn to fly myself, with enough time and money and interest. They do deserve an above-average salary though, because they are responsible for the lives of a lot of people.

could the National Aero-Space Plane (NASP) be built now?

Well my husband is a fighter pilot for the AF so I'm all about them! It's a prestigious job (in the AF anyway) because it's so competitve.

where can i find the latest aircraft's manual online?

Another A320 cargo door question?

Pilots tend to be very devoted to aviation, once its in your blood its there for ever, And usually is passed on to friends and relatives ( especially offspring ) Staying in long enough to make a stable carrer takes years of training, And much more money than a typical med school.
the only profession that requires anything even close to the recurrent training and medicals that a pilot has to comply with is a doctor.
I know a little about both professions, having been pre-med and now a pilot.
med school charges by the semester and Flight training starts by the hour, and when you start flying in the flight levels, Training costs can be calculated to the minute.
Doctors tend to have 1 life at a time in thier hands ( and pilots have hundreds )
Like any other notable profession they all deserve your respect.
from the guy that takes you for a ride in his personal puddle jumper to the ATP thats getting you home for the holidays.
