Question:
airplanes: (aeroplanes) 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 etc...
And why do they not simply start from small to big in that order?

Don't you want to know all the differences between all the individual models too? For instance there are more than one model 737.What is the difference in aluminum between 6061-T651 and 6061-T6511?
u could just say thats a pencil long and thin looking aeroplanes or thats a pig short and fat or if it has 4 engines its a jumbo. Each one is bigger than the last one. Go to www.boeing.com
Find out how many engines they have, the lower the plane number is the first of them, updated planes have higer numbers on them, you could buy a book on them and read it then you can show off properly
The numbers do not refer to the size. They refer to the order in which they were brought into service, the 737 in 1967, 747 in 1968, 757 and 767 in 1983 and the 777 in 1994.
This is quite involved so would advise a visit to http://www.boeing.com/commercial/747fami...
Hope this helps
why the airplanes aren't made from the same material as the black boxes?

Dear Friend,
Where can I buy bouquet for my wife at Heathrow, terminal 2?
The difference between say, an Airbus A-320 and some Boeing planes is difficult to tell on the GROUND, so identifying them in the air is impossible for 99% of us.
People are always asking me to identify planes, because I work in a Boeing factory. HECK, I don't know very many by sight, except for the 747, or Mc Donnell Douglas MD-80/90 series or MD-11, which are rather unique, so I just spit out a number and they are happy and think I'm a pretty sharp fellow.
can you take food and drink bought at the airport, on board the aircraft?
As for the # designations, size is not a factor. Each new generation has a new higher # regardless of it's size.
Are you Rickys Mate? If so I think your podcasts are exxxlent. Being very basic. Different planes are designed and made because the market (airlines have different needs) a small airline serving small journeys dont need Jumbo jets. They need fuel efficient, planes that are easily parked maintained offer basic comfort etc, Its a good comparison to look at why someone chooses a large Mercedes over a small Nissan. The merc will handle longer hauls without effort provide a goog level of comfort etc,and be capable of carrying larger loads.........lots of different reasons
Why do aircraft cockpits always have to be at the top?

They always started with their next big idea. 707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787. They didn't start with some grand unified scheme that would eventually lead to a full set of aircraft.

why do ears feel blocked after landind in a plane?
yes there is differences but if u want to really know them it will take some research... another thing is if you want to tell the difference between an airbus or an boeing is that most of the time boeings will have a taller tail, another good way to tell the aircraft type when they are on the ground is to count the emergency exits.More Questions & Answers ...
