What is the best make/brand for a pilot's headset?

Question:
I'm a light aircraft pilot, and I currently have "Pilot Communications" brand headsets. However, the mike on one hardly picks up my voice, and I have to raise the volume completely to hear with the other one.
Consequently, I'm shoping for another one. My instructor advised me to get "Telex". Price-wise: up to $300 Can you give me your advice if you're a pilot? Thank you!

How fast do commercial airliners taxi at an airport?

I have a pair of David Clarks and a pair of Telex headsets. I got the DC's when I started my flight training and they have worked great. I have since moved up to the Telex headsets. I love them. They are a bit more comfortable then my DC's but they were also a little bit more expensive. You can shop around at differant places to find a good price. I think I paid around 300 for the DC's and 500 for the Telex. Whatever you do keep the old PC's for when you take a friend flying. Good luck and happy flying!

how many flight a day does virgin have?

Probably the most known headsets are David Clarks - they have a great warranty plan on them and you can get them fixed at anytime.

You will see a ton of different headsets (all prices ranges).
Its really up to you what you want to spend, and I would suggest if you are just going to continue with recreational flying I wouldn't spend a ton of money on one of the noise canceling types.

What is the fastest American fighter jet currently used?

Everyone and their brother has David Clark headsets, and for good reason: they work well for a decent price. Personally, I like them OK, but I much prefer Lightspeed. I have a 25XL, and have used a 30XL as well, and they are the most comfortable headsets you can ever find. They are more on the expensive side, but WELL worth the money. Also, lightspeed is having a sale right now on their re-conditioned headsets, you can get a 25XL for $300, and it comes with a great warranty.

Why aren't there parachutes in civilian commuter aircraft?

Most pilots will tell you that David Clark is the best. But for a good value I went from a set of Telex Pro Air 2000e with a mic I was constantly taking back for repair, to set made by Sennheiser, model HME-100.
Very simple & Spartan headset, but very reliable. No need for repairs yet after about 3 years of use.
Definately less than $300.00.

where could I find cheap GPS aviation maps and software for Europe to use it in my PDA?

You can't go wrong with David Clarks. Every single headset they make is amazingly durable and has good sound quality. If you want an ANR headset, I'd recommend the Lightspeed line of those. Don't waste money on the Bose X ANRs, they sound like crap and hurt hour head.

Why is a 777 so high off the ground?

In the $300 range you could look at some of the lower-end David Clarks (again, great quality for the price) ar some AvComm models are pretty good too. I would recommend upping your budget to around $5-600 to get a decent set that will last a long time and protect your hearing, don't try to save money on these.

Hello....any aviation gift ideas?

I have David Clarks and they have been great despite all the abuse.

does any one live around an air port?

Telex are good too. Also try Peltor, they are good quality, well priced, and very light.

Can I just turn up at Heathrow with passport and cash..?

Go for David Clark's. I have both DC's and Telex and I prefer the DC, I have the David Clark H10-60 which is a little more than $300 but the 13.4s are really nice and they are in your price range. David Clark makes a great product but they also stand behind them with a superb warranty and even after the warranty has expired they help you out a lot.

Bose makes a nice ANR(active noise reduction) set that has adapters for most aircraft. Work great in a helicopter.
