Question:
I'm going transatlantic and the only plane I've ever flown is a Cesna.
Answers:
do you like united airlines or american airlines better? why?
In a small plane you are closer to the ground (usually less than 2 miles), look out of larger windows and can see much more. In a commercial airliner you are five or six miles high, look out of very small windows and can't see much detial. Small aircraft are noisy, commercial planes are much quieter. Small planes fly around 200 miles per hour or less, commercial jets usually fly around 500 miles per hour. Small planes seldom carry more than 4 people, commercial jets can carry hundreds of people. No toilets on small planes, no walking around, and it's difficult to talk because of the high noise level. But I personally like small planes...they're more fun.Have any airlines ordered the 747-800?

To fly a commercial aircraft there is less view from the cockpit and you therefore must be an IFR pilot to fly it. You also have to know how to get something that ways a ton more than a tiny aircraft off the ground. It is less sensitive and takes longer to maneuver plus you are moving at around Mach .8What makes lightening strike an aircraft in mid air?
Its just a much more stable ride. And they have toilets and you can walk around. Youll get food as well. Otherwise its not too different. The puddle jumpers well jump around quite a bit. Turbulence really knocks them about.
how does an aeroplane lift off the ground? what does a pilot do to do so?
the difference is 30,000 lbs. its like a star destroyer trying to move like an x-wing...plus visibilty is down, and your using jet tubine engines compaired to a piston engine. In Airports, why do they have you enter on the right side of the plane?
In small aircraft, you will feel wind gusts more easily. In large aircraft wind has much less effect.why dont airplane tires disintegrate when the plane hits the runway?
Light aircraft fly at lower altitudes, have a shorter range and less sound insulation.Large commercial aircraft are capable of flying much higher and so pressurize the cabin for comfort. They carry a much larger amount of fuel to make the Atlantic crossing non-stop. Since it will take many hours to make the flight, lavatories and a galley are installed. There is even an in-flight movie. There is generally less turbulence effect when flying at higher altitudes, especially above the clouds, and also because the aircraft is heavier. You can also stand up during flight when the seatbelt sign is off.
................... I don't mean to dishearten you but if see the cockpit ............... you will forget what you did in a Cessna .............. but other then that it ........... over a period of time it is much more comfortable and easier to fly a bigger plane than a small one ..................
What are the education requirements in order to be a pilot?
There is quite a few differences but some of the main things is just that flying a very large commercial aircraft is much more about systems management than it is about flying. Most of the duties of the pilots of a large commercial aircraft rarely do any actual hands on flying, most of it is looking at the instruments, monitoring the gauges and making the appropriate adjustments. As well in large aircraft it is the autopilot that will do the flying and the pilot will just set the heading. Any aircraft with more than 19 seats is also legally required to have a flight attendent and a lavatory. In small aircraft the pilot can also have a lot of freedom as to where they want to go, but with 99.9% of commercial flights they will be filed as IFR (instrument flight rules) which will mean the aircraft will most likely be flying on designated airways, which are kinda like highways in the sky. In very bad weather conditions such that would require a CAT III ILS approach (such as clouds right to the ground and no visibility) the large commercial aircraft will use the autoland feature as it is illegal for the pilot to conduct the landing himself with these conditions.Big ones have a larger window
