how many companies are in aviation sector?
I'll second what Rob said..Phases are done at a certain amount of flight hours and or flight cycles. Every take off and landing is one cycle. Each aircraft manufacture requires a check ie:20K 40K flight hour phase check. Phase 1, and Phase 1A.... if I read that right.
where could I find cheap GPS aviation maps and software for Europe to use it in my PDA?
Phase 1 might take some sections of the aircraft apart. Phase 1A, goes a little bit deeper in dis-assembly. Phase 2, 3, 4 etc.. all have their sub checks between the next major check. Our checks last about 3 weeks, but we have A checks(which fall between our phase checks) that are an all night thing and the aircraft is back up and flying revenue the next day.
can anyone give me the link from where i can get a comprehensive live flight updates from airports?
Mods are done to aircraft still in service. The manufacture has figured out there is a part that is constantly breaking, and or causing others to break. A "Mod" is then put together with all the parts etc, and that problem area is made structurally stronger, to prevent downtime. Downtime with aircraft is a major money loss. Our aircraft fly about 60K revenue a day per airplane and they are only 70 seaters. So if you have a mod that is fleet wide, and costs 50K to do, its a pain but look at the revenue you would lose.
