It is very hard to get a job as a commercial (airline pilot), -- you have all the "old military" guys with thousands of hours in the air to compete with! Now "flyjng for pay" as commercial pilot with a private firm is a little easier, but is still hard to find a good one that pays good (though there are some that pay better than airlines!)

Aeronautical engieer of course has it's competition also, - but the field is a lot larger to begin with!

And then there is tha chance that you can be both at the same time, -- being a "flight enginer", -- if this is done on a very large aircraft, - you can be quite valueable, - and at the same be a 2nd backup pilot in case of emergency in flight--- or sometimes the co-pilot is both while serving in "2nd seat"!
