Hong Kong has the shorest international airport in the world................ shortest runway is very relative term ............ to a particular type of aircraft ................ short runway for 747 may not be short for 737 or like type air crafts ............... whereas to land on the aircraft carrier is most challenging .................. but then you don't compare that with civil planes ................. civil plane has to meet so many safety norms that if you miss any it is considered landing by compromising air safety ............ and taken up by the aviation agency of the country .................... there is no ready made shortest runway in the world .................. you only try and land a big plane on a short runway ..........

It sort of knackered the landing gear. But obviousley all was well at the end of the day.
A daft thing to attempt, and commercial runways are therefore much more popular.
