Question:
Is it possible for a propellor driven aircraft to achieve supersonic flight ?
Answers:
What are the latest fast planes after the demis concord? Are there any in pipeline?
Some planes in WWII did it, in steep dives, but it was not due to engine power, and was ultimately not controllable. It has not been done in controlled flight, but there are people working on it, and it is possible. It is, however, highly impractical and has no application in aviation except to maybe pioneer new manufacturing techniques and materials. The Air Force tried in the late 1940s, but the plane was so loud and hard to control that they gave up on it and the whole aviation world concentrated on jets and rockets. Now there's a guy named David Rose who is trying to build a propeller-driven plane to race at the Reno Air Races that he hopes will go supersonic. As of yet, he has had no such success.Has anyone ever made a pedal powered aeroplane that actually worked?
what do u mean by supersonic 1,000 mph sure!!Pilots ,What is the instrument in cockpit called?
no, they have tried this and the propeller provided too much drag and could not function properly at that speed.why are national flags on airline jet painted reverse?
Actually, Supersonic flight is around 700mph. I'm not aware of any prop driven aircraft that could achieve that type of speed.No. Fastest I know of was a Spitfire in a 45 degree dive and even that only got to around M0.9.
what are the airline requirements when traveling with skis?
In level flight: no way. The propeller would be spinning so fast it would be supersonic itself and would not be actually pushing any air.can i take my pet dog on an airline to spain from manchester,if so which one?
It's reported that in WW2 some planes, doing a VERY steep dive from high altitude may have broken the sound barrier, but this is not confirmed.
key laws of aviation industry in 2004?
NO because there would be to much drag if you had a huge airplane with 500 props or something.THE props would break and over heat. its better to have a small jet engine then a 500 prop big *** airplane.why do gasprices vary during a 24 hr period at the pumps?
With the propellor we have today, no. But that does not mean it is impossible. The prop we have today is basicly the same as it was 100 years ago... however there are a few companies out there that have created propellors of different designes to achieve different results. One was to create one that looked like a screw with a fat bite. Never say it is impossible, as 105 years ago, it was said man could not fly, and 60 years ago people did not believe we could reach the moon. If it is to be achieved, and someone has money to burn.. it will happen.More Questions & Answers ...
