Some you can. Its just like credit card numbers, certain sequences belong only to one type.Boeing part numbers start with 10-XXXXX-XX or 65-XXXXXX-XX or 69-XXXXXX-XX generaly, but there are some variations. Boeing hardware starts with BAC (BACB30XXXXX-XX for a bolt for ex.)
need to know where i can submit my application form,..my resume..?
Piper always has six numbers grouped in three like 486 483 (fuel press sender on the Piper Turbo Seminole, I've ordered a million).
On some military aircraft you can, for structure parts.
hi everybody..where i can find free 747-400 & Airbus 320 3d model?
another one is learjet - most start with a 23XXXX due to the fact that the lear 23 was the first aircraft they made - many parts have a vender(the company that manufactured the part) and a customer number say gulfstream. if you have the customer number it is easy to track just call a gulfsream repair station etc.-if you have just a vender number onlu that part may go on many many different aircraft. sometimes it is as easy as putting the part number in google and see what comes up - you would be surprised how much stuff is recordedwhat are the different airlines?
unfortunately, part numbers are mostly proprietary by the manufacturer. Each individual company develops its own part numbering system and they don't always follow the same rules as every other company. Your best bet is probably to reference everything by NSN rather than pure part number. No way to do so. For one thing, many parts are used on several different kinds of aircraft. Slick magnetos, for example, are used on dozens of different types.
