Question:

Answers:

Aviation, is anyone flying the Cessna Mustang yet? hows it rate?

Solid state, in any context, simply means no moving parts. For example, A relay and a transistor do the exact same job, but the transistor is solid state because there are no moving parts.
Hope this helps,

what are the smoke lines those planes leave?

Solid state means no GAS filled vacuum tubes, as opposed to SOLID state. Many of our older C130 aircraft still have a vacuum tube ADF, and a few have an autopilot that uses tubes. Tubes don't have moving parts either, and many of our solid state boxes have electromechanical relays in them.
