There are even some longer runways than the 3 mile long Cape Canaveral. How fast does a jet liner go on average when it's taking off? Seems so slow when watching them.?
Edwards Air Force Base in California has many runways over 3 mi, including a 7.5 mile runway.
how can they see the wind in a wind tunnel?
it is 500m in width and d length depends on space available with d airport................general... its 25 kmPilots ,What is the instrument in cockpit called?
Although runway length may be of some academic interest, in terms of usability for air carrier operations, a runway of at least 6,000 ft (1,820 m) in length is usually adequate for aircraft weights below approximately 200,000 lb (90,900 kg). Larger aircraft including widebodies (Boeing 747, 767, 777, and 787 (still in design)); Airbus A-340, A-330, A-350 (still in design), A-380 and A-310; McDonnell-Douglas DC-10 or MD-11; and the Lockheed L1011 will usually require at least 8,000 ft (2,430 m) at sea level and somewhat more at higher altitude airports. International widebody flights may also have landing requirements of 10,000 ft (3,048 m) or more and takeoff requirements of 13,000+ ft.Iam looking to purchase some aircraft wire. i can not find it on the net anyware. any ideas.?
At sea level, 10,000 ft can be considered an adequate length to accommodate virtually any aircraft. For example, at ORD, when landing simultaneously on 22R and 27L or parallel 27R, it is routine for arrivals from the Far East which would normally be vectored for 22R (7,500 ft) or 27R (8,000 ft) to request 27L (10,000 ft). It is always accommodated, although occasionally with a delay.
It depends upon the following:
Does Anyone know the process for applying to become an airhostess?
1. Type of aircrafts, using a runway.
How hard was it to fly the first plane?
2. The altitude of the airport.
does any one knows how to find the airport code?
3. For military use, special types
of runways are used.
I want to become an airline pilot! what do i have to do once i have left school?
4. For sea harriers, the runway requirements
are almost nil.
what is the purpose of those planes that fly around making clouds?
5. For helicopters, ordinary helipads are required
, measuring not more than 300 sq. mts.
Is the L1011(of the few left) still permitted to provide service in the U.S.?
6. For Cargo and passenger planes,
the requirements are, like for each bay,
the runweay has to be a minimum of
6 kilometers.
what channel does privet air planes use?
7. For smaller air crafts and for flying
school, the runways are not more than
5 kms.
What is the sawing sound you heard from Airbus 320?
It varies.where can i get the best deals on flights?
The runway at Cape Canaveral is I believe... a mile long, some runways are 2500 ft, 3500 ft... and longer. Just depends on the size of the aircraft using it.
What are the proper signals for checking flight controls while marshalling an aircraft?
Actually, at Cape Canaveral, the runway is 3 miles long.If the question is about commercial airports, the answer is between 5500 and 13000 ft.
It all depends if the airport is civilan or military. There are runways out there that are 3000 feet long and there are some that are 3 miles long. It really depends on its use.
Is it possible to judge the altitude of an aircraft from the ground, using a general rule of thumb?
the approximate length of a runway can be anything from 3000 ft to 20,000 ftthe factors that determine the length of a runway are
1. Type of aircraft and its Take/Off performance
2. the environmental conditions i.e. Temprature, pressure and the altitude at which the airport is situated
3. the slope of the runway
4. the wind direction and speed
5. the total weight of the aeroplane
6. the particular design of the aeroplane whether it is short T/O and landing(STOL)
Military and airline pilot testing?
The length of the runway should be sufficient for the aircraft to reach its T/O speed and if it has a problem at that speed it should be able to abort T/O and come to a complete halt within the total length of the runway from the starting point to the point where it comes to a complete stop after a take of is rejected at the T/O speed when it is fully loaded to its max limit T/O weight.
What is your experience of a plane crash or near miss? How did you cope with it?
now it is upto u to decide which aeroplane u want to fly and for it how much runway u will need as per the manufacturer of the aircraft.
It really depends on the aircraft that is using the runway. You will find some small airports with runways with lengths around 3000 ft.,there is one airport located close to me that has a length of only 1860 feet. Then on the other hand you will see the larger commercial airports with runways lengths of 10,000 feet. Then you can find places like where the Space Shuttle lands with runways Lengths around 15,000 feet.
How fast do passenger jets fly?
umm it differs greatly from airport to airport because some are designed to hold bigger airplanes and others are made to hold little ones like prop planesMore Questions & Answers ...
