have three years of progressively responsible
work experience, have completed a full 4-
year course of study leading to a bachelor’s

Depending on which country, here in Canada they have open testing, highest test scores get interviews, pass the interview go to a paid training school, pass that go for On the Job Training, once your OJI (on the job instructor), thinks youre ok you are considered "checked out" and become a licenced ATC. there are 2 main types, which you may know. you can work in a tower or in an ACC(area control center) you need to be retrained and check out for each new place you work at if you transfer.

Don't pin your hopes on the FAA to hire in a timely fashion. History says different. There are several post secondary JC that offer Courses in ATC with a degree. Gives you a leg up. Also severing as a controller in the military will be very helpful. Good luck.
