If the "blackbox" flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash?

Question:
why isn't the whole damn airplane made out of that stuff?

Answers:

a stupid question... on airplanes, why is it that the "dashboard" is always so high relative to the pilot's

it would b so heavy youd never get it off rhe ground

Can an american be a pilot in germany?

because the material that makes the black box is very heavy hense its usually the only thing that is not damaged during a plane crash

Is it true that flight attendants are required to have 20/20 vision?

no it isn't,,the black box is made out of titanium,,that's the hardest material you can use on anything,,but its also real heavy also,,that's why the plane isn't built with it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

What is the aviation alphabet?

The "Blackbox" is quite often damaged in aviation crashes but can withstand very high G loading and impact damage.

In your opinion is the job flight attendant a good job??

Why does someone ask this stupid question every week?

how many flight a day does virgin have?

its not cost effective. bottom line. forget logistics about weight, its the same reason why they don't put in bulletproof cockpit doors as nader and moore suggested long ago. teh same reason why chevy makes cars that have bumpers that fall off (ala chris rock)... they could make cars with super bumpers that don't fall off but they wouldn't do that because it would cost them money.

Why do aeroplanes only leave a short trail in the sky and only some times?

They are damaged on occasion, but weight and volume are the biggest reasons. It is very easy to encase a little rectangular box in whatever you want. Plus recording tape is pretty immune to g-forces. Even if you could encase the hull of the plane the same way, the contents would not be a pretty sight after the crash.

Airplanes arent tanks. They're meant to fly...not protect the passengers from problems they were not designed to handle.

Its just plain unrealistic to ask for an "everything-proof" airplane!

Is there a mnemonic or a fun way to remember airspace and cloud clearance?

Besides... even if the plane was indestructible. The G forces involved in a crash would EASILY kill you.

Either way you're dead lol. So it all comes down to using common sense and not driving when drunk!

fighter jet?

The blackbox sometimes does get damaged, most likely during an intense fire.
The airplane has to be made from light weight materials to be able to get into the air in the first place.
When an airplane crashes most people are still alive, perhaps unconcious but still alive, its the fire that kills most of them.....

What is it called?

Its a very simple flight to weight ratio thing. Think like this....why not build your house from the same material your fireproof safe is made of? It would not fly if it were built from something that heavy. Black boxes simply are made to survive in almost all situations. Hope this helps ya.............

As the plane comes in to land at KC (MCI) airport, I notice much conture farming in western MO. Why is this?

Cause if the airplane Will be made from that staff , its gonna be to heavy... and will can not even to move to the run way! think before asking...:P

Does the Flight Management Computer provide autopilot inputs?

cost to much.

hi! am in class 10 i am cofused between taking engenearing or being a pilot as a career? starting of a pilot?

There are a couple of different reasons that the black box survives the crash, here is an article the explains it:

SR-71 Blackbird openion?

They are sometimes damaged, but are made to resist considerable forces. It is much easier to make something small impact resistant then something large. Blackboxes aren't particularily light, if the entire plane was constructed as heavily it would never get off the ground.
And anyway even if a plane could survive a crash from altitude unscathed, the people inside wouldn't.

What is a Municipal Airport?

makes plane to heavy.if if aircraft was built with safety in mind it would not take off.their are safety factor numbers for all aircraft all very low i may add.

whats the difference between different piston shapes (dished, raised, flat)?

The first thing is planes already wiegh hundreds of tonnes if u start building them out of other materials it would never get of the floor secondly planes are made out of metal alloys which have been proven to fly at high alltitudes without breaking if u changed that material it would be seriously expensive to do all that testing again.

what is airline reservation system?

The actually are damaged. Sometimes even destroyed.

what is the smallest plane?

It's not indestructable. It's protected mainly by the crushable cabin of the aircraft. Only the data recorder mechanism is hardened. If you built an aircraft to those standards, it would never leave the ground. Imagine an M1A Abrams tank with 3 foot wings.

what is cost of one helicoptor?

Even if you had some magic material that was totally indestructible and light enough, the passengers would still all be killed. When the aircraft crashed, it would come to an instant stop but the passengers would keep moving at 500 MPH. They'd but cut in half by the seatbelts which would act like cheese slicers. The body parts would then be smashed into the seat or bulkhead in front of them and all of the guts and goo would spray all over the inside of the aircraft. Nice visual, eh?

Concorde aircraft?

As in the last time this question was asked, the recorder is made from strong material that is harder to crush during a crash. A plane made from all of that material would be too heavy to fly. Besides the passengers won't survive a severe crash anyway.
