what is the flight time from Orlando to Indianapolis - how regular and hoe expensive are they?

Aeronautical or Aerospace engineering. Probably need more than a 4 yr education, might be able to just start by majoring in mechanical engineering and specializing in thermodynamics. For auto and aerospace, thermodynamics is really where you need to be smart, very important to understand thermal control.

For your BS I think you need a degree in mechanical engineering. You will get into the aerodynamics and other specialized stuff in your later degree.

You have to specialize in engineering, the study of stress and structure. The primary element is mathematics, the formulas are known but finding people that understand them is hard to find.

To get to designer stage you should have a basic engineering degree.Just designing or drawing, doesn't get very far, because you have to prove it will work. If you want to draw prototypes or suggestions ,probably a arts/design course. To draw plans, possibly a drafting course.

how many makes of a spitfire plane was there?

but i think that it's almost impossible that a single man will design an entire jet engine, you will probably work in a team, and you will probably have to design a component decided by the project manager, so you should not have such a "romantic" idea of this work....this was true only in pioneers' times....
