Being right in the middle of Tampa and Orlando, it's highly unlikely.I seem to recall that one of the new "air taxi" airlines starting up with the VLJs (very light jets - like the Eclipse 500) was going to operate out of Lakeland.
It might be a year or two, but I wouldn't be surprised if you see an air taxi operator there. They are tending to start in Florida.

I know zephryhills municipal has a small airline service. my guess would be either airport not suited for commercial service i.e runways long enough, terminals. i think it might as the Tampa metropolitan area increase in size, it will eventually. maybe not in near future, but i bet at some point it will. it would be just like kennedy international and la guardia in new york city or like o hare and midway in chicago. many large metropolitan areas have two airports.More Questions & Answers ...
