Anyone know the best place to learn how to fly...?

Question:
Currently in the UK, reading up etc but I've read that its cheaper and better to learn in the States ? wouldn't mind trying a helicopter first, how long would that take and anyone got any info on the subject ? would be greatly appreciated... thanks

whats your favourite airline?

FCA Flight Center. Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Most people start in airplanes. It is a lot cheaper and you get the basics of aerodynamics and ATC and navigation nailed down. You can certainly start in a 'copter if you want. I got my private license in single engine airplanes after 44 hours of flight time. 40 is the minimum legal time in the USA. I agree, doing it in the USA is better because our airspace is (for the moment at least) much more open than in Europe. Lots of foreigners come here to learn to fly.

if your looking for a cheap way to get you licence. go for your flat wing first , helicopter. there not that many places that i know of some in Kent but its booking and you get there then the weather stops play. find a local club and if you ask or chat to some of the instructors . there are some that with up front cash will do a coarse for you .(save 1k)not all but some will if they got plane service bills to pay for .you got to have a strong head for the helicopter's used to have the cherokee but it cost to much to keep.have a go its fun.

what is a good aviation headset?

Flying is ridiculously expensive in Europe, especially in the UK, but whether it's worth going to the US depends on how far you want to take it. If just a private, it's probably not worth it, because you'll have to go through the conversion and all that. If you want a commercial license or above, I would say it's worth doing it in the US. I am currently doing all my ratings in Daytona Beach, but there are plenty of choices. I suggest you start it with fixed wing.

where can i get commercial pilot training cheapest & within a shortest period.?

Flight training in Canada is also cheap! It's estimated to be 30-35% less than other countries in the west, including the USA. Canada has the most diverse aviation industry in the world! There's also diverse weather conditions in Canada which can be exciting! If you want a career as a pilot in the future, employers love to see that you have flying experience in special terrain/weather conditions.

whats the smallest plane in the world?

There are many flight schools all over Canada, where you can earn a PPL and work your way up to a CPL. Some colleges offer certificate programs too. I know at the University of Western Ontario, you can earn a Bachelor of Administrative and Commercial Studies degree in Commercial Aviation Management and at the same time, you can choose to receive flight training and earn your commercial pilot license. This program takes 4 years to complete though and you might want to consider this if you want a degree as well. Otherwise, college flight programs should be good for you.

Get your fixed wing before you get your helicopter. Transition time is less in a helicopter, and helicopter's are notoriously expensive to fly.

Well firstly the best place would be in the air preferably but I have heard it is cheaper to take a long holiday in the states or canada and pass the test over there then convert to british licence when you come back or just keep going back for the retest to the states.
