I have been invited for an induction day for a company and one of the postions involves hitch hiking surley this is not legal and also dangerous does anyone know about PLATE driving I have recently passed my Class 2 HGV and am looking to start asap but am looking for advice & information about plate driving before I go for the induction

Instead of injecting NOS, why don't people use pure oxygen or high proof alcohol?
Unless you have a desire to be stranded anywhere in the country, forget about what you call PLATE driving.What it involves is delivering new or used vehicles to dealers or buyers. The TRADE PLATES are used to give tax and insurance cover whilst being driven to their destination. Once there the plates are removed, and you return, with plates, to your depot.
These drivers are paid, and receive expenses etc. for their return trip, but are often seen in motorway service stations, with Trade Plates tucked under their arm, hoping for a lift so they can pocket their expenses. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but as I said you could be anywhere in the U.K..(Plus it's not unknown to have some people carry 'false' plates to get lifts, the main reason I would never pick anyone up carrying Plates)
If you have just passed your H.G.V. may I suggest you try working first for a Driving Agency, as many employers are a little reluctant to hire an inexperienced driver.
