So I bought a compass for my car, and it won't work.?

It works fine when it's not in the car, but as soon as I go inside the car with it, it wont' work. I tried placing it on the sun visor, but it wouldn't work. I placed it on the top left of my wind shield... no dice. I put it on my dash board... nope. Is there some reason that it won't work when it's in my car?

A compass points to magnetic north. ( a few degrees off true north) it dose so because the tip of the needle is magnetized..well your car has alot of metal in it, and that is going to throw off the magnetic field the compass is trying to pull towards.
