Question:
Why do people use diesel trucks to produce heavy black smoke? (Cummins)
How do they produce such smoke? Do they step on the gas heavily?
They really pollute the environment a lot! Terrible!
Answers:
What is the best petrol at the moment and why? ie V power, bp ultimate etc?
Diesel Fuel is less refined and can burn longer - thus making it possible to a Deisel engine to travel longer distances. It has little to do with accelerating heavily, and you probably seem to notice it more in town with lots of stop and go traffic. The pollution is not as much as a person thinks - some gasoline powered vehicles are just as bad or worse....the color of the exhaust make you think it is. There is new headway in the use of BioDiesel. It burns cleaner and there are dozens of good uses for it. It is not perfected yet and no on really knows the effects on the motors. FYI - it costs less to produce Diesel fuel than Gasoline but Diesel is MORE expensive to purchase and there are additional Fuel Taxes above the pump price- per state- that Semi Operators have to pay to buy the fuel and use the roads. If Gasoline cars would do that - youd all be walking to protest. Another thing - dont rip on Semi trucks and Diesel smoke - when fuel gets higher and frieght rates continue to go down and the economy goes further into the toilet...you will be very mad when your toilet paper is 20$ a roll....Do you think Camden N.J.streets will ever be clean again?
Actually, the exhaust from diesel tucks is not as bad as the exhaust from gas burners. Just because it looks bad doesn't mean it is.Do I use gas unnecessarily if I...?
A diesel engine produces Torque, not power, as petrol engines do. diesel's have a higher compression than petrols do too. But diesels dont rev so high, with the pedal to the metal, to move such a load if they don't keep their air filters clean they tend to use more fuel hence creating more black smoke.if the engine is left idling for a while and takes off the smoke should be white like the clouds. so I'd say they have a really clogged up air filter so the mixture of air with the fuel is less. I myself hate it when i see that sort of carry on. "BLOODY CLEAN YOUR AIR FILTER" is what i yell out to them. Lazy buggers.A few facts. Diesel is in big trucks, buses, trains, ships, heavy equipment. Why is it used. More pulling power can be got out of them. Why do they smoke....they are pulling a heavy load. Dirty yes, but that "dirt" is fuel that did not fully combust. into carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.(carbon monoxide poisonous gas). So, as a solid, it will settle down to the ground(or be washed down with the rains).
Out of these 3 cars which is the best...??
Before you get high and mighty about using gasoline instead......gasoline produces WAY more carbon monoxide than diesels in gas burners on the road, and gives less torque to pull those loads so more fuel would have to be burned.
Your car is a greater health risk than a diesel.(yes, even the newest ones)
