They are a rarity in The States, but some planners are developing more. Here, near where I live, there is a new roundabout at the US-23 exit to Lee Road in Brighton, Michigan. This used to be a quite get-off on the edge of town. That is until they built a 100 store strip mall. There are two new roundabouts there and drivers are having a heck of a time using them. Americans aren't used to them. I've traveled extensively and think they are a great time saver. Just go around until the street you want comes by and peel off. If you miss it, just go round again. That's a lot better than waiting for a light to change to green.there are a few

Yes, we have small single lane ones here in Utah. Nothing like the large multi-lane ones they have in Europe and South America. I personally detest them, but the city engineers think they are wonderful.In parts of the United States we refer to them as "Traffic Circles". I live in Southern California, and there is one in the City of Long Beach. You're correct "mate" they aren't common here.
