Do Americans have roundabouts in roads and streets like we do here in Australia?

Question:
You might opt to search for pictures in Yahoo! in the event you do not know what roundabouts are. During my one month holiday in U.S.A last year, especially North East coast I did not see any.

Please help me! Manual or Automatic?

They are a rarity in The States, but some planners are developing more. Here, near where I live, there is a new roundabout at the US-23 exit to Lee Road in Brighton, Michigan. This used to be a quite get-off on the edge of town. That is until they built a 100 store strip mall. There are two new roundabouts there and drivers are having a heck of a time using them. Americans aren't used to them. I've traveled extensively and think they are a great time saver. Just go around until the street you want comes by and peel off. If you miss it, just go round again. That's a lot better than waiting for a light to change to green.

Driving troubles?

In parts of the United States we refer to them as "Traffic Circles". I live in Southern California, and there is one in the City of Long Beach. You're correct "mate" they aren't common here.
