Some cars will be fine on headroom and poor on legroom. (Miata. I'm 6'1, and my legs barely fit) Some will be vice-versa. (Any 90s Saturn. My head hits the ceiling easily on all of them.)

It also depends how much room you have to have around you to feel comfortable. Some people feel cramped if they aren't driving around in a friggin' living room. Me, as long as I can lean forward without hitting the headliner, and as long as I can operate all the controls without hitting my knees, I'm fine. I actually prefer that sort of cockpit-feeling.
