To prevent an overpressure situation in the engine. An unregulated overpressure could destroy an engine almost instantly. The wastegate dumps the excess pressure to prevent that from happening.how much is diesel fuel in Ethiopia?
they have a wastegate to divert the exaust around the turbo so it is not spooling when the presure is to high, but the pshhhhh you hear when the driver lets off is not the wastegate that is the blow off valve, or recirculating valve, witch releases the air in the intake pipe, between the turbo and the throttle body, when the throttle body closes the presur inside the intake pipe goes way up, releasing the blow off valve, if this did not happen all the air that is flowing from the turbo to the intake would come to a sudden stop, and stopping the turbo instantly, kinda like sticking a stick in the spokes of a bike wheel (not good)thats a blow off vavle you hear.the wastegate determines the amount of boost you run. the blow off vavle keeps the backpressure off the turbo when you let off the gas.
