Should it be harder to get a license?

Question:
Should the state governments make it harder to get a learners pemit or a license. The Illinois road test doesn't even make you parallel park to get your license. There are many people out there who probably don't deserve a license that make the roads more hazardous. Europe's roadways are safer because they don't just hand out licenses. Should we be more stricter like our fellow Europeans?

Answers:

What font is used for traffic signs?

At the first glance, yes. There should be a single age where teens across the country get a permit, liscence, and whatnot. There should be standards in place, based off of other states that have good statistics.

When the light goes on that I need gas how many more miles can I drive?

For example, make the permit age 16, provisional liscence 17, real liscense 18. That way, they are limitations till the kids are adults, but loose enough that they can still drive to some places.

Provisional license?

Provisional liscenses imply that teens can only drive after 6 AM and before midnight. They can only have 1 passenger, and as many family as possible. they can only drive within the state, they cant drive 18wheelers, etc.

Which has a better handling Exige or Elise?

In the United States, driving is a vital part of our society, which means that we rely on the fact that people 17 and up will be able to drive on their own.

I have a dui, can i still become a truck driver?

There are many assets that make this institutionalized. For instance, the highway system in America was built to connect far away places, so people could get from point A to point B quicker. That was accomplished, but it also brought on bigger issues. Because of that, cities lost industry, and people had (have to) travel out to the suburbs. Things are spread out much farther than they were before 1956 when the Interstate Highway System was built. Now parents of teenagers have to travel farther to work, to the grocery store, shops, etc. Because of that, they have less time for transport their kids to friends houses, parties, school, clubs, sports, etc.

Can you list one more car brand name?

So to say that we should hand out less liscenses would be wrong, because we SHOULD change the infrastructure after we change the law. Should we make the rules and testing more difficult?

Wat kind of car you have?

MY ANSWER: Yes, but within reason.

Hireing a Motorhome? The Lowdown Please?

edit-
there should be a test for people over the age of 65 who still want to drive. and a test very 20 years after that. its pass/fail, no rebuttal.

How fast is 19,000 rpm in mph?

Yes.

Automotive folklore and myths...?

yeah there are so many bad drivers around

Theory Test Change date?!?

Ohio's doesn't make you parallel park either. All i did for my license was drive around the block...seriously. and then do manuverability, which i was allowed to open my door and look back...lol. maybe it should be made harder. a lot of my friends are really crappy drivers.

Car stopping distances ?

WELL yeah u gotta know everything

How much money does it to take a Hond Civic of 150 hp to get it to 500 hp?

Definitely. There are way too many bad drivers out there. And I also think it's too easy to keep your license...you should have to retake the written test each time you renew, at least, because I see people just doing whatever they want all over the city.

In countries that drive on the left, when the drivers get to the border of a country that drives on the right?

Yes and they should also make it harder for the elderly to keep their licenses. THEY are some scary drivers. I don't know how many times I've been cut off buy an old man or woman trying to make a left turn out of a parking lot. The young people don't scare me as much as the elderly. The elderly just don't have the reflexes that they used to have. It makes for some dangerous driving.

Is the Dodge Caliber good for me?

It totally depends on your state, it's a ***** to get them in some other states.

Legal drag-racing?

Yes. I also think the driving age should be raised to 17 or 18 or, at the very least, I don't think a teenager should be allowed to drive with other teens in the car. That's when they tend to have accidents-- showing off for their friends, getting distracted, etc. When I was in high school, there were about 10 kids from my school who died or were seriously injured in car crashes because of speed or goofing around behind the wheel.

Someone threw an egg and hit our new motor home on the side. It is so cold here that it is frozen.?

Difficult to answer your question since it is somewhat imprecise in what you're asking. Specifically only 15 countries in the whole of Europe (i.e. European Union) have in fact agreed to more stringent rules not so much on licensing but rather on penalties related to DWI and very specifically drunk driving which accounts for 1/3 of all mortalities approximated at 40,000.

What are the common colors for taxis in other countries?

Perhaps the more important question is whether the US should enhance laws to be more rigid and uniformly applied as to ensure that drivers who are deemed DWI or reckless get severe enough punishments to make it a deterrent for them and others from doing the same thing again.

If a car is traveling at 100 miles per hour how fast is it traveling per feet?

Two sides to the argument suggest as follows:
1. We should not punish people so severely as to destroy the rest of their lives and careers for one time indiscretions
2. A car is a weapon in the hands of an irresponsible driver and the punishment should be the same as someone pulling a trigger on another person

Whats the best truck to pull travel trailer, 6 to 10,000lb?

Licensing will not prevent severe accidents since a large percentage of severe accidents in the US are in fact committed by unlicensed drivers or drivers with suspended licenses.

Is it cost effective to convert a diesel MPV to run on LPG?

Europe's roadways are also better maintained, and Europe doesn't generally require one to drive to have any sort of a life, as does most of the US.

How big is the space (length and width) for parallel parking on the drivers test?

Also, I got my driver's license in Alaska. I failed the parallel parking portion of my test (WTF, can't see the cones...REAL CARS ARE TALLER, AND PROVIDE VISUAL REFERENCE), but I still got my license. Why? Because there's maybe a dozen parallel parking spaces in the whole damn state.

What should i do if i want to ship a moped here from Asia?

(BTW, I can parallel park now)

Was there a4 dr Plymouth Belevedere PowerFlt made that looked like 54/55' Chev but with small fins on rear?

I don't know that I really trust DMVs to make tests more strict. Considering the amount of false (stopping distances) information one is required to regurgitate as it is, and considering how capricious DMV testers can be, I'm not sure it would help.
