take off the case around the base of the steering wheel so you can get behind the lock. there are 4 wires you need to just connect 2 they are different colours for different makes just get a piece of 5mm insulated wire and test the points once open u'll understand what i mean. u also hav the problem of the steering lock... but they can be broken if u turn the wheel hard enough. depends on how much damage you want to do to "your car"

keep a extra set in a magnetic case and attach case under body or behind grill etc. or you can go to a locksmith and have a plastic emergency key made for your car and keep it in your wallet [same size and thickness as a credit card, key part folds out] note if said vehicle is equipped w/a alarm/ immobilizer the magnetic case is your only reasonable choice. good luck i hope you weren't out in the cold and wet too long.
