What if we only used cars for work and absolutely important reasons and bikes or golf carts on weekends...or go to horses...that have no tires, oil and fumes...on the contrary they would give back to the earth...perhaps we dont want to go backwards...but if we dont do something now we won't go forward either? I myself am already thinking ahead and looking into strawbale homes for cheap construction that is green and over double the R-value of a normal house for insulation. People are touting the use of corn to make biodiesel instead of using gas. But the fact is corn takes too much water and contains relatively small amounts of sugars that are needed to make ethanol. We need to find or create a plant that can grow rapidly using less water and producing more sugars. Otherwise we may end up driving up the cost of food as farmers devote more land to fuel production.

I've gotten around on mopeds & public transit for so many years now. I first started riding mopeds off & on in 1983. Even with the cost of gas as it is now, it's rediculous that so many idiots still insist on running-around in SUV's all the time, while it costs me only $1.10 to fill my gas tank & get around. People are always stopping me, asking me about my moped. But absolutely none of them ever bother to purchase one, to save more than just money. I now buy many of them used, from others who have bought them in the past, rode it a few times, & then just left it sit in their garage for years! If people really wanted to help to fight Global Warming, they should at least start using such a mode of transit!"Hey, let's get real".....man cannot and never will make a dent
