You are correct they would provide better stopping ability. The reason you donot see them as often is because it relatively new technology for big trucks and busses.But I believe it is meritor has a setup that many heavy truck builders are starting to use. Also, another reason why you don't see them is for the same reason big trucks used to not have front brakes. people are afraid of new technology.Where do I start when getting auto financing??

Air keeps the brakes on the rig open. When the driver hits the brake pedal it lets out air causing the brakepads to expand and press against the drum. If the driver runs out of air the brakes spring back to the drum causing the tires to lock up. I guess the could redesign the wheels and axles to accommodate disk brakes but Im sure they would have done this already if it worked. They are switching to perforated ceramic pads in the future to cut heat and brake fading.Should i get Stick or Automatic?
I drive a 24 foot box and it does have disc on the front, you can have stronger wheels with drum brakes to accomadate heavier loads. I know that disc on my truck do not last near as long as drum.More Questions & Answers ...
