I've never heard a performance exhaust that sounds ok on any car.I have read good things about the factory optional performance exhaust on the latest 997-series Porsche 911, but as that doesn't have a diesel engine I assume you aren't interested in that.
Any other car, you'll just ruin the refinement, annoy the neighbours and increase your chav-factor.

No they sound awful, I saw a Vauxhall Nova 1.5 td build by I believe turbo packs at Avon park drag strip a few years ago it was a quick little car,it was beating standard Golf and 1.9 Pug GTI's down the 1/4 mile but sounded like a 1940's tractor.
