What is the differnce between meter guage and Broad guage?
But actually, for the really noticable increase in power you probably want, you want to focus on TORQUE output, not horsepower. Torque will give you a swift kick in the pants off the line; horsepower only really matters for an engine's top end (i.e. top speed). What are the odds you'll be circuit racing, where you'll be able to use your extra horsepower?
Is there a way of avoiding the car rental 'drop charge' fee in the US?
Either way, for a seriously noticable boost I would recommend a forced air induction system--a turbocharger kit or supercharger. It's very popular with Japanese imports, and if I'm not mistaken they make (or used to make) turbocharged versions of that engine in Japan.

The exhaust is also a good idea, but forced air induction is by far the most ideal way to go.
cold air and a sports exhaust are a good start
What are the advantages of lowering the driving age to 15?
Cold air intake and exhaust won't give you much extra horsepower. Not enough to matter. Unfortunately, when it comes to cars, to do it right, its going to cost a pretty penny. However, don't let the Auto tranny discourage you. Autos are some of the best track cars!i own a repair shop, and the best thing you can do for it is a cold air intake for it and an improvement on the exhaust system that's too of the cheapest things you can do,and there not that cheap, but compared to other things that would be where i would start with it good luck i hope this help,s.
European, American or Japanese is car better (in context same prices)?
personally i wouldnt waste my money with that car or engine, a cold air intake, exhaust, header, and computer chip are about the cheapest things you can do but they all together will may a little difference but not worth the money, get a car with a V8you could install a more aggressive cam,,,headers,,but then the price just keeps going up,,,,that engine is only designed to put out a certain amount of horse power with out extreme mods
The transmission has nothing to do with it, the engine doesn't know powering a car from powering a water pump on a freighter.
With something like a Supra ( that's what I know them as ) there should be plenty of pre-configured turbo charger kits available., that will require minimal modifications to the engines internals.
An easy 50-75 horse bump in the pants.
You did mean nothing Is to expensive right?

Cold air intake tubes and headers/exhaust will be a waste of money. I recently watched an episode of Horsepower TV and they were attempting to boost the HP of a Honda Civic. They installed the silly looking shiny intake tube, headers and a free-flow exhaust system ($1,000.00 worth of mods). Net horsepower gain: ten -- at SEVEN THOUSAND RPM! For an extra $1,000.00 bucks added to the cost of the car they could have purchased a used Mustang GT of the same model year with three times the HP in stock form. There simply is NO substitute for cubic inches without spending major bucks (like a $3K turbo kit) or engine dismantling NO2 systems. The fact is every vehicle built since the late '90's is tuned for maximum HP at the widest range of operation and no amount of Autozone tack-ons will net you any significant HP gain.Automatic transmission question, plz get what i want 2 know b4 answering..?
dont waste your time or cash on a 4 cylinder. be grateful you have a car for gas mileage and leave it that way. bolt ons wont give you the bang for the buck your looking for. if you really want some power its gonna cost. or you can do nos and do damage to your engine either way you wont be happy with itDo you use public transportation?
I would forget about trying to up the power on the 2.2 L NA engine. I would look into changing over to a JDM Toyota engine. Some of these engines were never intended to be sold in the USA. So if you live in a emissions legal state of city, you may have trouble converting over. But check out the link below. Listed is a 225 hp turbo engine with a 5sp tranny and ECU and all the wiring sensors, etc (complete setup). How to I obtain a B.C. Senior's Gold card for riding B.C. Ferries free on weekdays?

Does anybody like the cars called novas?
A cone air filter made of cotton gauze(K&N) and some Super Conductor wires by MSD. Get rid of the stock muffler and get a straight through muffler.Dont waste time or money on that car to boost horsepower. What I did is buy a second car with the power I wanted and used the 4 banger back and forth to work.Costly in a way but makes me happy.
Jokers, all yall. The 5SFE will make power, it is just harder than, say a whopping V8 or a Turbo I4 or anything inbetween. OK, first do the CAI and exhaust as others have suggested. Then do a high flow cat, then do a header/ported exhaust manifold. Then do a ported/bored throttle body, then a ported intake manifold. then cams from WebCam. Then offset grind the crank as long as you arent going to boost it or spray it. And speaking of spray, that is the cheapest power/dollar there is. Now people will rag on it all day long. But you will win. Average Import dry system runs 35-75 hp but I would look into a Zex wet kit. Same power range but simple and safer. And after all this you can look into getting your torque converter rebuilt with a higher stall. Dont forget your chassis. Power is nothing with out control as Pirelli says. TIRES TIRES TIRES, which means rims, and then sway bars, springs, coil overs, seam welding the body, etc etc etc.... Total out lay I would guess anywhere from 10 to 20K depending on the quality of the work and the parts. Figure, two hundred hp at the wheels. Just take it step by step, if you like the car, then it is worth it. But once you catch the bug, youll want more and more ;)
