What car to tow 24ft caravan please?

Question:
Hi there, is a ford escort diesel too small to tow a 24 ft twin axle caravan in uk and France? Whats the law on this please, are there guidelines as to how much and how long you can tow? Thanks.

On a bus isn't there a little button at the bottom of the doors that enables them to open?

Every car has a maximum towing capacity. Your car handbook should have this kind of information. And please bear in mind the law takes into account the maximum weight of the trailer/caravan when looking at this.

Why the road /pavement edges r painted white/black in warm countries & not painted in europe?

In the UK it is an offence to go over this limit so do research this carefully. That said, I can tell you now without looking that a ford escort diesel is almost certainly too small a car for a 24ft caravan.

Below is a link for the National Trailer and Towing Association which should hopefully supply you with all the info you need.

If I wanted to, could I just drive into the Nurburgring Nordschleife track and start going around?

check the maximum weight your car can tow! if you have a big enough engine in your car and it has enough torke in it it should pull it you will need extension mirrors so u can see round it properly

Hi

What uses more gas - driving with the AC on or driving with the windows open?

You will need a 'HUGE' vehicle to tow your 'van. The rule of thumb is that the weight of the caravan shouldn't exceed 85% of the vehicle weight. Underneath the door of the van should be a plate with the weight written on it. It should give the unladen and laden weight of the van. From this you should be able work out the weight of the vehicle you'd need to tow it.

Do trucks last longer on the road than cars?

(Divide the weight of the van by 85 then multiply by 100, this will give you the minimum weight of the towing car)

I have been driving in auto but i want to use a manual car?

I would suggest though you'd be looking at a large 4x4 or big estate like a volvo. Or a transit van!!

What are those big metal bars on the front of trucks called?

Good luck and happy caravanning.

Is it true that a car speedo is set 5 miles faster than the actual speed? IE: it says 40 but your doing 35?

Dean

How can we find out if our Grandson is on a bus bound for Pa.?

the 85% "rule" is only a suggested limit. Never tow at more than 100% of the tow cars kerbwieght..it`s illegal in the UK.
I tow a Lunar Solar Eclippse 615 , that has a MTPLM of 1600Kg (mass in running order is only 1320 Kg)with a Jeep Cherokee 4Lt Auto that has a kerbweight of 1640Kg.
Close I know , but I`ve been towing for YEARS !
It`s very unlikely that any Escort model will be heavy enough for even the lightest twin axle.
