I am living in the UK now and wish to renew my Australian license, in order to get a british license. Is this possible and how?

You can do it. I had to renew mine when i was in the US a couple of years ago. You need to obtain a renewel form and send it off with a photo. I don't recall exactly how it was, but it is possible. It was quite amusing to me, because i ended up with the same photo on my NSW licence, my passport, and my US visa. I would have thought atleast 1 immigration person would think this was suss, but no one blinked an eye.
Get someone to get a renewel form for you, one which is for absentee. And just fill it in, and send off.

I do not think so, as for driving licence you will have to come for photo taken. when the time come, you bring your old licence, and explain that you were in UK with proof of course, they will let you renew the licence. Thanks
