Is a third brake light required in Colorado?

Question:
I have a 95 Jeep Wrangler and I recently put a lift and bigger tires. I want to take off the old tire since it is much smaller than the new tires but if I take the spare off then I have the spare holder which also holds the brake light... So I'm hoping to take that off (which will also remove the spare holder/brake light)

Where is the inside fuse panel?

So my question is "Is a third brake light required in Colorado?"

I don't think so, but you might want to contact your local police department. Some things depend on your county rather than the state and it seems that the third light would fall into that category.

Since you have a 1995 vehicle, then I believe that is a federal requirement to have the third light. Call a garage in your area that does state inspections, if your state requires inspections. Or call the local police station and ask them.

Since like the late 80's it was required by all manufacturers to start putting in third brake lights. So, yes, you have to have it there.
