Engine module?

What exactly does an engine module do? Can it be adjusted to make my car go faster? If so can I buy one that will increase the HP of my scion XB?

Well, the engine control module, if that' s what you mean..interprets sensor data and delivers fuel and spark to the engine, and there's no adjustment. If you want to a faster, get a supercharger, don't waste money on a portable tuner without making some real mods.
