That said: I would check Consumer Reports for vehicles that meet the necessary criteria. What does he need the vehicle to do? Driving back and forth to class calls for something different than delivering pizzas (which will kill off a car in short order). So I guess, we need more info.

Probaby the Yaris Hatchback, but seriously if you could afford to get the Chevy Cobalt or The Toyota Corolla, the engines are stronger.IE: more horsepower, unless it is strictly for transportation.

Reliability wise, the Toyota Yaris is by far the best. Interior quality and ergonomics are good, and it has quirky Euro styling. I would stay away from the Chevy Aveo. It's ugly and its interior quality is abysmal.Does anyone know of a van hire company where I could hire it for one day picking up in one town...?
