I am after honesty here. This is not question to discuss the effectiveness of current driving laws or the morality of decisions. I am just curious about peoples honesty. If you are someone who drinks alcohol and you are also someone with a driving licence. Have you ever driven a car when, hand on heart, you couldn't be certain you were under the limit, or when you you knew you were almost certainly over the limit?

A few years ago I regularly drunk drove as I worked in a bar until 2.00 a.m. Never had a problem - but my cousin was hit by a car shortly after Iand now I never touch a drop if I'm going to drive just in casenever, however i know people who have and its never a good idea
Yes - I did it a few times when I was younger - looking back it was a really stupid thing to do and wouldnt dream of doing it again. Its one of those things you do when you're young and dont really appreciate what responsibilities everyone has in life.

My brother was the same - he did it more times than me and ended up getting caught. Funny thing was (well not really funny but you know what I mean) was that we both used to get plastered and drive home. He went round a friends house midweek and had 3 small bottles of beer - he thought he would be ok and got caught on that - 3 milligrams over the limit on breath test and 2 milligrams over the limit on the blood test! He got an 18 month ban and 800quid fine. He managed to get it reduced to 12 months by going on a course but that wasnt the half of it - he was a quantity surveyor at the time and lost his job as he needed to travel - his company still employed him but only as an office administrator for the time he did not have his license - he went from 36 grand a year to 14 grand a year for the 12 months which was really hard for him.

The good thing that came out of it though is that he wont go anywhere near alcolhol now if he has to drive. It was a good thing that he got caught as it was only a matter of time before he wrapped himself round a tree!

Next thing I know I fell the car bouncing up and down. I look up and saw a large rock cliff coming right for me. In a split second I corrected which took me right through a power pole and into a wet corn field.
The airbags went off and in the heat of the moment I thought it was smoke so I jumped out while the car was still rolling.
As soon as I jumped out, the top portion of the power pole fell right next to me,,,,,,,,,,then came the power lines.

I walked back to where the party was at. Took a shower, put on some new clothes, then I called the police. By the time they arrived I was already sober enough to make up a good story of falling asleep at the wheel. I got out of the whole thing unscratched and not charged with drunk driving.

Hi, I've just got my car imported from Japan(R34 skyline 4door ,turbo) ,and i wasn't drink driving(?). I just wanted to hit the floor . So before i did anything to the car i purely just wanted to see and feel the potential of the car, so one night after work i took it to a long straight nearby which was about 1km long with little curves, anyway there is 2 sets of lights and one of them has a red light camera(i think ?) . The car obviously has power and has a good start ,probably only take about 5secs to reach 100km/h or less i don't know but once i put my foot to the floor i just couldn't take it off . As i change gears could feel the power trying to urge more speed to go forward (which i enjoy the most) and i came up to the first set of lights just hoping there are no cars around ,the lights were green ,good to go, so i didn't even think about how fast i was travelling or even making a slight move of stopping ,as i past the lights i saw an animal run across the road , suddenly it stopped in the middle of the road . I slammed the brakes , started to fish tail the road , losing control of the car ,next thing i saw was a huge tree in front , i honestly thought i was going to die . But when i looked out the window i saw a black cat(?) go by ,so i thought to my self at least i didn't kill anything . The next thing i know i could control the car so i dodge the tree and stopped the car. I went up to the cat (which i found out when i picked it up) cuddled him and took him off the road .From that day i cannot drive with my foot to the floor and i have found out that i am allergic to cats(i could"t stop sneezing ) .

honestly yes, and i am going to court for it next wendsday not only am i 17 and drunk as a skunk, but i tryied to outrun the cops as they clocked me in at 100 mph as the electronics on the truck wont let it go any faster (for engine damage reasons) and when i came to my senses bout 3 mins later i realized that i should pull over i cant out run a cop drunk. so im hopeing for the best as ill be 18 a few days after maybe they will charge me as a minor and only take my lisence till im 21, and yes i have honestly outran the cops only 3 times before. best thing to do is pull over and dont drive even if youve only had a few.What factors make a car waste more gas?
Yes, in my younger days up until May of 2002 it never bothered me that I've had a few, this happened most weekends and some times during the week too, I would usually drive so that I would only drink 1 or 2 but most of the time I'v have a bottle or 2 in hand and forget how much I'v drunk during the night, then try to get a few cokes in a hour or so before home time, on some occassions I don't even remember driving home.Then in may of 2002 I had done the same when I clipped a drunk crossing the road, coming from behind a van.
Don't think that I stopped drinking and driving because I hit a stupid old drunk, it was the fact that I got away with out any charges.
The Police arrived measured up the accident and I was breatherlised, the result was green, which was a real surprise, and the car was positioned in the best possible i.e I was in the middle of the lane and the guy I hit was just behind the back wheel and he had ripped a wing mirror off , so speeding was also ruled out.
My best mate at the time was one of the passengers that night, and he was making arrangements to get home while the police was dealing with me, as he knew there was no way in hell I wasn't going to be arrested.
