they are a straight flow design , they are a cheap upgrade if your looking for that kind of sound . they sound stupid on 4cls there a ok v-8 mufflerModern exhaust systems are designed much better than they were 20 years ago. A new cherry bomb (glass pack, Smitty as the old folks called them) won't help a bit except to annoy your neighbors. I had one on my '67 Fairlane and when I was embarrassed of the noise and replaced it with a standard muffler it was still a fireball with no noticeable drop in power.

i own a repair shop ,and all they do is open the exhaust up ,and let it breath a little better,and they are loud,and in some states illegal if you don't have the pipes ran all the way back to the rear of the vehicle,but it will make it louder ,and in some cases help one to run a little better also,as the worth of it,i wouldn't bother with it myself,they burn out really fast,and then don't sound that good,if its a good quiet running car or truck right now,id leave it alone,good luck with it i hope this helps.I would suggest Flowmaster or Magnaflow brand. If you have a strong enough engine it will sound great. The muffler will last longer because it has no glass packs to blow.
