Listen, what you need to do is relax first. If what you are doing is slowing down and shifting down until you stop, its not going to do any harm, but it doesn't look too professional. All you have to do is push in on the clutch and the brake and don't touch the shift not once until you have come to a full stop.
I don't know if that's what answers your question. But if what you're asking is whether to simply press on the brakes and not on the clutch while stopping? Then always use both the clutch and the brakes, by only stepping on the brakes and slowing down you can drown your car which is bad.

You should push the clutch in when stopping or engine will die. If you are traveling at a high rate of speed then wait till the car has slowed before pressing clutch as engine helps to slow vehicle. And it is better to shift after you have stopped to keep from damaging your transmission or motor, unless you are use to down shifting.

As long as the clutch is in you are in neutral no matter what gear you think its in. Unless you let go of the clutch its in neutral. You can hit the brake anytime you like as long as you push the clutch too.

The easiest thing you should do is to shift your car into neutral, and push in your clutch and brake to prevent from stalling your car. Once you have come to a complete stop, shift your gear back into first.

Can u beat my car!?!?!?!?!??!?

You should slow down with the car in gear. Wait until your tachometer goes below 1500 RPM before you push down the clutch pedal. If I need to stay stopped for more than a few seconds, I usually put the car in neutral at this point so that I do not need to hold down the clutch. However, you should put the car into gear when you see the light for the intersecting traffic changes to red (if you can see it) because your light will turn green shortly after. If you are far back (in a line of cars), put the car into gear when your light turns green.
