Yes, gas is not good for paint. Try and use a buffer with wax and buff it out.No, you probably did! Gasoline can damage any plastic parts, decals, etc. It will also dull the clear coat finish! Years ago we used kerosene and that does a real nice job getting bugs and other things off without messing up the finish. It actually removes the road film and so it has a real nice shine!

you need to get some good wax or a polishing compound and a really soft cloth and buff out your paint to reapply a protective wax coating ...
