The main components of a petrol-electric hybrid car are a battery, a motor(Which can work both as Alternator and motor),an IC engine.
The working goes like this, At the beginning, the car runs on gasoline till it attains the hybrid speed (say 50mph) meanwhile the motor which is coupled with the IC engine acts as a Generator charging the battery connected to it. Once the speed limit is attained, the IC engine stops and the motor runs the car. Again when the car's speed is less than desired hybrid speed (say 40mph) the IC engine comes to work making the car to move. The cycle repeats according to the movement of the car..NMN
