I've recently had my car stolen and so I am looking to replace it. I thought I might try and become a little bit more green (and I know you will say USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT) but due to the nature of my job that would be VERY impractical. Any suggestions?

For Hybrids, the Honda Insight gets the best gas milage of any car you can buy. However it does this at the price of driveability. It's not the most comfortable or easiest car to drive but it will get upwards of 60 mpg.The prius is next. It's a little bigger and more practical than the Insight but it will probably average in the low to mid 40's as for miles per gallon. That may not be worth the extra cost.
Don't diesel cars accelerate poorly?
If you don't want a hybrid, the Honda Fit is the best small economy car as rated by both Car & Driver and Consumer Reports. It blows everything else out of the water in vitrtually all catagories. It also made the list of top 10 greenest cars in the US this year.

Diesel cars do get better miles per gallon ratings , however this is because Diesel is a more dense fuel. They aren't any "greener" than any other car. In fact they actually pollute alot more than most cars which is why you can't buy a new diesel car in the US as of 2007. Any VW diesel would have to be a used model.

depends how you look at it. modern hybrid cars will claim to be the greenest and give a good mpg but looking at the wider perspective, the pollution created in the manufacture of the battery in the car is greater than any benefit the car will have in its lifetime. get a small engine car like a smart car or something.After a car wreck do I contact the other person's insurance company to get my vehicle repaired?
