I am guessing they were at a higher speed, ignition components got wet, engine mis-fire caused the engine cylinders to ''jump'' may have caused a lifter to collapse which would cause hard start and engine miss. if you can carefully dis-connect one spark plug cable at a time you might be able to isolate the concern- be careful the shock from the spark plug cable is that -shocking. also you might be able to hear a stray spark jumping. footnote-- some of these vehicles have a gm warranty extension the spark plug cables, bulletin #00032.For those who like classic cars?

There were probably wood ticks around the water puddle and they got on the engine where the power fell off at.
