1996 jeep lorado how do i take it outta 4 wheel drive?!?!?! it has the shifter thingy and its in 4 all time or something like that i want to put it in neutral

i own a shop,and try pulling the shifter to the neutral position,but it wont pull in that position you need it in high 2-wheel drive position,if you go to the complete neutral position,it wont move,good luck i hope this helps.
