Question:
Answers:
AdBlue contains Urea as well as other ingredients that when injected into the exhaust gases of an SCR engine,(Selective Catalytic Reduction),it somehow reduces the harmful emissions enough to comply with the latest legislation known as Euro IV,(5). The alternative is EGR,(Exhaust Gas Recirculation),which takes unburnt fuel from the exhaust system and feeds it back into the inlet system therefore increasing the effiency of the engine. Pick up 'Trucking' or 'Truck and Driver' magazine and there's always articles regarding operators opinons on both systems. It's now another part of the decision making process when buying a new truck and just a matter of choice for the operator. I'd love to have my boss ask my opinion but as the 'Pride of our fleet' is my eight year old,700,000 Kilometre Daf 85 that may be some time away!
Another day another way.
