Question:
Texas Question: I have a "Park Home" which is less than 399 sq. feet of living area, has two porches, 11 x 8 and 11x 10 foot built by company as one roof line. I had a skirting put on it to keep "wild hogs" from getting under it as it is located 2 miles from the nearest highway. IT has a VIN number and I am required to put tags on this unit. Now my county, I am in Hopkins Co., TX., has notified me this will be taxed as any home would be because I have an air condition on the ground, I hook it directly to a septic system rather than allowing the holding tank to fill and then transfer the sewage and I am currently living in it full time.
What can you do (anything and everything) to make your car pass emisisons testing.?
Can anyone tell me if they have ever known of such a law where you pay property tax and place tags on the same unit?
I do understand the land, which I lease would be taxable and any other structures attached to the earth but not this.
Answers:
Well basically its attached to ground on property that is owned by you and only reason you would need to put tags on it is if you where going to move it. If you don't plan on traveling in it and moving it around pluck the vin number off along with license plate. Side skirting makes it look like a home
